Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. This page explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Introduction
Welcome to PDFKit. We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your information when you use our mobile application, PDFKit — PDF Reader & Tools, available on the App Store and Google Play.
By using PDFKit, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use our application. We take your privacy seriously and strive to ensure that your information is protected.
Information We Collect
PDFKit needs no account. The PDFs you open or create, your recent files and favourites, your saved signature and your settings are stored on your device, in the app's own storage, and are never uploaded to us. Every tool — merge, split, extract, organize, rotate, compress, images to PDF, scan, PDF to images, add or remove a password, watermark, page numbers and sign — runs on your device, and each result is saved as a new file next to the original. We do not run analytics in the app. The only data that leaves your device is what the advertising service described below needs to work; it never receives your documents.
Advertising (AdMob)
PDFKit shows ads served by Google AdMob, which keeps the app free: a banner, native ads styled like the app's cards, an occasional full-screen ad after a finished task, an ad when you return to the app, and an optional rewarded video that turns on two extras for the session (maximum compression and batch compression). To deliver, measure and limit ads (for example frequency capping and fraud prevention), Google may collect information from your device such as its advertising ID, IP address, device type, approximate location and how you interact with ads. On iOS, PDFKit requests non-personalized ads only and does not ask to track you across other apps. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before any ad is requested, and you can change it at any time in Settings. Google's use of this data is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Camera and Photos
The camera is used only when you scan a document or add a photo to a PDF; on Android the scan hands off to your camera app. The photo library is used only to add the photos you pick. Scanned pages and photos stay on your device inside the PDF you create.
Security of Your Information
Your files are kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot access. Passwords you type to protect or open a PDF are used for that task only and are not stored by the app. Protect your device with a passcode, because anyone who can unlock it can open the app.
Retention of Your Information
We keep none of your data on our servers. You can delete files, recents and your saved signature in the app at any time; uninstalling the app removes all of its data from your device. Files you saved or shared elsewhere stay there until you delete them.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and shows ads, so it is not part of the Google Play Families program. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or for legal reasons. Changes are effective when they are posted on this page, so please review it periodically.
