Privacy Policy

Screeny has no user account, no sign-up, and no server of its own. We do not collect, receive, or store your personal data.

To show you your screen time, Screeny reads app usage information from your device using Android's Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS), a special permission you grant yourself in system settings and can revoke at any time. This includes which apps were used and for how long, how often the device was unlocked, and how many notifications each app sent. Screeny also reads the names and icons of your installed apps so those statistics can be labelled.

All of this stays on your phone. It is written to a local database on your device, it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to see it. The same is true of everything you create in the app — your goals, per-app limits, focus sessions, streaks and settings.

Your usage data is processed entirely on your device, for the sole purpose of displaying your dashboard, charts, insights and streaks, and of enforcing the limits and focus sessions you set up yourself. Because none of it reaches us, there is no information for us to use, analyse, profile or process.

We do not sell, rent or share your usage data with anyone, because we never receive it. The only time information leaves your device is when you choose to export it: Screeny can export your statistics as a CSV or JSON file, which is handed to your device's system share sheet so that you decide where it goes — an email, a notes app, cloud storage, or your own files. That export is always initiated by you, and the destination is always your choice.

Screeny is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a non-personal advertising identifier from your device to deliver ads, apply frequency capping, prevent invalid traffic, and produce aggregate measurement. This data is handled by Google in accordance with the Google AdMob Privacy Policy. The app itself does not receive, store, or share this identifier, and your screen time and app usage information is never used for advertising or made available to any advertising network. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time from your device's system settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads on Android).

Screeny asks only for what its core features need, and explains each one in the app before requesting it:

• Usage Access — to read on-device app usage, unlocks and notification counts. Without it the dashboard is empty.
• Installed app list — to show the correct name and icon for each app in your usage breakdown and to let you set per-app limits.
• Display over other apps (optional) — for the block screen and the floating live timer.
• Notifications (optional) — for limit alerts and your daily and weekly recap.

Screeny requests no location, camera, microphone, contacts or file access.

Your usage history, limits and settings are stored in the app's private local storage on your device, protected by the operating system's app sandbox. Because nothing is uploaded, there is no server-side database of your activity that could be breached, and no copy of your data outside your own phone.

Screeny keeps your full usage history on your device for as long as you want it — history is never trimmed or paywalled. You remain in complete control: you can clear your data from within the app, clear the app's storage from Android settings, or uninstall Screeny, and every record is permanently removed from your device. We retain nothing, because we never had it.

Our application is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can take steps to remove such information.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
